Week 46: frohe Weihnachten
| My new comp Sister Shupe |
Welcome back to another crazy week! I dropped Sister Newby off on Thursday morning and picked my new comp up that afternoon. Friday afternoon I got a phone call from one of the senior couples saying that Sister Newby has Covid and that she couldn't get on her flight back home… soooo sad! Pray that she can get a negative test on Wednesday so she can fly home before Christmas! I am the most at risk to get it since we have been together the last 4 weeks so hopefully I'm okay. Christmas in quarantine is not ideal.. so ya that's been kinda crazy.
We decided to do some Book of Mormon drop offs this week and wow coolest thing happened. It was our first drop off of the day and all we had was this guy's name and address. Sister Newby told me he was an older man who didn't have a phone and that he was so excited to get a Book of Mormon that he literally tried paying her to make sure he got it. We went to the address and searched for this guy's name but couldn't find it anywhere. We rang every single door asking people if they knew who this man was and no one did. We decided that he must've wrote the wrong house number down and so we walked up and down the street searching for his name. After about 30 minutes I looked at my comp and said you know those stories where missionaries pray and just end up getting led right to the house or person? Maybe that will happen to us if we pray. We said a prayer and then with all the faith we could gather, set off to keep searching. After about like 30 seconds we noticed a tiny parking garage and went towards it. Right at the entrance there was a mailbox thing with no name on it, however, it did have a piece of mail sticking straight up. The last name was very similar to the guy we were looking for and then we saw the first name and it was the same! We had found our guy! Both our mouths just dropped. There is seriously no way that this would have happened without God's help. Like seriously the things that happened for that to line up are insane. God answers prayers!
I've loved these last couple of weeks because they have been so focused on Jesus Christ. He is truly the reason for this beautiful season. I've been studying a lot about him this week and I'd like to share something that I love. I was reading a talk and it was talking about how when we're in darkness or pain or we see someone we love in darkness or pain how we would give anything to take away their pain and help them, but how we don't have to because someone already has, our Savior Jesus Christ. In our darkest times he is who can bring us back to light. Through his atonement everything is made right. I love coming to know my Savior better. His love is perfect and it's there for all of us. When we let that be our focus, life just gets easier and better. I love him!
