Week 23: Fleisch schwitzt

Hello Everyone!

This week was so good! It was full of laughs and blessings and I'm just so grateful to be a missionary!!

I had such a funny day on Saturday so I thought I'd share. It started out with all the missionaries here in Wien getting together and playing soccer which was a blast. We also played at a park and one of the german elders was trying to do this slackline thing and totally split the rope and landed so hard on it and I started dying laughing. He got up real fast and just ran off and it was so funny. Also, one of the elders was getting spinned on this like wheel type thing and totally flew off and landed on his head and I once again died. To finish the day off we got invited to a meal appointment with the elders we share the ward with. The guy who was feeding us brought out two plates that had so much of this meatloaf-looking stuff on it that I about cried. One of them had way more than the other but they were both loaded and I just prayed he didn't give me one of them… he put the huge one in front of my comp and the other huge one but slightly smaller in front of me. I for real thought he was joking especially when he brought the elder's plates out and they had like ⅓ of what he gave us. I for sure got the Fleisch schwitzt hahaha but me and my comp both ate all of it and felt super proud of ourselves. It was kinda the worst food ever. It was basically meatloaf with no flavor except for pickles that tasted like green olives and eggs. So basically between my comp and I, we ate half a cow and we are nervous for our next meal appointment! Wish us luck this week.

We had a lesson this week with a cute lady named Sabrina. She was telling us why she wasn't religious and kept saying if there was a God then why are so many bad things happening in the world? It's crazy to me how easy that question was to answer. God loves us so much that he wants us to grow and gain experience. But how do we grow and gain experience? We need to have hard times. If there were no hard times we wouldn't appreciate the good times. The times in my life where I struggled the most are the moments I look back and am grateful for because they helped me become who I am. It's so hard to see that when we are going through these hard things but there is a light at the end of the tunnel with whatever we are going through and that light is Jesus Christ. This lesson was super needed because I needed that reminder.

Anyways looking back at the week I just found that I was able to find joy in the little things which is such a blessing!! I also got to bear my testimony so much which was also a blessing. This week try to find the little wins. God is mindful of all of you!

Love and miss you guys!
