Week 20: VIENNA AUSTRIA
Hello from Vienna, Austria!!
It really doesn't feel real that I am here. Thursday we got all packed and headed out! Repacking my bags was not fun and I'm grateful that I don't have to worry about having to weigh them for a hot minute. Thursday night we stayed at a cute little hostile in Munich! There is no ac here and it's so hot! We have to wear a certain kind of mask here and I can't breathe! Wow, I sound dramatic haha but ya it's a struggle.
Friday we got up, ate some breakfast, and walked to the church. There, we listened to a couple of talks and then got to figure out who our comps were and where we were going. I was very excited! They had a cute PowerPoint that pulled up a picture of the area and the comp there and then the comp would talk about their area and try to make it sound like the best thing ever. we then would do a drum roll and they would say who was going there and we would all cheer! And then the new missionary would go up and introduce themselves and all that. It was actually so fun and exciting. When the picture of Vienna came up I was like wow that looks like a dream and thought whoever was going there was so lucky. I was not expecting to go there at all and then they called my name and I was shook! I walked up to the front and tried to introduce myself and oh man my words did not make any sense and it was so funny I really don't know what I was trying to say and ya it was bad... But what!!! Vienna?! Only like a dream place to go. Me and another sister (sister Middleton) both got assigned there. So fun!
After we all found out we had lunch and interviews with President and then walked to the train station and off we went. My train ride was about 4 hours to Vienna and it was beautiful! There was a bunch of missionaries on the train with us and slowly they all got off at their stops. One of the Sisters who got off accidentally took my bag instead of hers so that was a whole situation haha no worries tho we were able to switch back the day after.
Anyways the last couple of days have honestly been some of the hardest of my entire mission. I've never felt so inadequate in my life. The language is so hard and I can't understand anyone… we went out on the street and were doing a Book of Mormon stand with a bunch of missionaries and people would just walk by and laugh at us or make a disgusted face and it's just so hard. The culture is very different and it is gonna take some getting used to. One thing that made me laugh was a member came up to me and said, "Willkommen" (welcome) and I thought he said, "woher kommst du" (where are you from?) So I respond, "Utah!" Ya so awkward… anyways moral of the story is I could really use some prayers!
I hope you guys all have the best week ever and enjoy being able to talk to people… haha it's fine I'm fine… I'm super grateful for the strength I've received these last couple of days and for the opportunity to be a missionary!
