Week 2: German, German, and more German

Okay, so it feels like I just barely wrote an email! I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday again! This week was awesome! I definitely had way more highs than lows and am feeling good.

My first week of MTC I thought I had learned so much German that my head would explode… And this week I learned probably double that on an already exploded head. In class we have been practicing teaching lessons in german and Sister Peterson and I’s first lesson went terrible. We had to teach for 8 minutes and we were silent for 5 of those 8 minutes. I swear I said every single German word I could think of. It was pretty bad. But that gave us motivation to work even harder and since then our practice lessons have been so much better! Our first German TRC is this Saturday! I am so nervous but we have been preparing this whole week so hopefully it goes good!

I had the coolest experience ever!! In class we started talking about the power of prayer and then we all shared a personal thing that we would like our district to pray for. Everyone really opened up and told things that they were struggling with or someone they loved were struggling with. We all kneeled down and one of the Elders said the prayer. The spirit was so strong and it was honestly one of the most powerful prayers I have ever felt. It was like a 10 minute prayer and when it was over everybody was in tears. It was so cool! The power of prayer is real and I am so grateful for it in my life.

The missionary devotional that we watched last night was for me I swear. In it Elder Alliaud asked what we are afraid of and immediately German came to mind. He then explained that English was one of his biggest weaknesses and how he was afraid. He shared Ether 12:27. That scripture was so comforting to hear and I know that as I have faith and humility, my weaknesses can be made strong. I also really liked what he said about inadequacy. We all feel inadequate at times and he said that that’s normal to feel that way because we are inadequate. We need God to make up for our inadequacies. With him we can do anything. God knows our weaknesses and imperfections perfectly but can change them into something beautiful.

If you're struggling with something ask God for help. He is always there for you. He loves you and will give you strength.
